1.STAIRS

VERB +STAIRS
  • Use/take the stairs:Shall we use the stairs or take a lift?
  • Climb the stairs:My grandmother finds its difficult to clim the stairs these days.She’s 80.
  • Run up/down the stairs:I wish my children stop running up and down  the stairs.
  • Fall down the stairs:Unfortunately,I fell down the stairs and broke down.

COMMON EXPRESSIONS
  • Carry sth up/down the stairs:She picked up the child and carried him up the stairs
  • A flight of stairs:The lift was broken, so we had to walk up 4 flights of stairs.
  • The top/bottom of the stairs:I was out of breath when I reached to the top of the stais//My bags were heavy,so I left  them at the bottom of the stairs.

2.HOUSE

VERB+HOUSE
  • Build a house:It looks very old.Do you know when the house was built?
  • Share a house:My son is a student.He shares a house with 5 other students.
  • Demolish a house:The house I was born in is no longer standing.It was demolished 10 years ago.
  • Renovate a house:We like buying really old houses and then  renovate them.
  • Break into a house:Someone broke into the house last night and stole the televisions.
  • Move a house:Moving house can be very stressful for some people.

COMMON EXPRESSIONS
  • Live in a house:We’ve live in the same house for over thirty years.
  • Stay at someone’s house:If you can’t find a room in a hotel,you’re welcome to stay at our house
  • Pass someone’s house:If you’re ever   passing our house,why don’t you drop in for a cup of tea?
  • Lock yourself out or the house:I locked myself out of the house.I had to climb in the bedroom window.
